About Paul Gibson

Paul Gibson became a Master Gardener with VCE Prince William in 2006. Seeds were planted early by his mother's WW2 Victory Garden stories, his father's scientific interests in Rachel Carson and Buckminster Fuller, and boy scout camping, where he learned to always leave the campsite better than he found it.

As a Master Gardener, he introduced bio-intensive gardening to the unit's Teaching Garden, presented sustainable vegetable gardening topics to 500 people in the last 2 years, and leads volunteers in the Cook's Garden. He authors a periodic "sustainable garden update" email to about 200 readers, advocates community gardening programs and supports plant-a row for the hungry which provided over 45 tons of fresh produce for each of the past 2 years to area homeless shelters and food banks. He believes that sustainable organic gardening is a great solution for everyone, particularly where people are hungry, resources are scarce, and labor is available; places like Malawi and Tanzania.
